South Australian Recipients

of Awards within the

Order of Australia

1975-2012

In 1991 a Sub-Committee to gather information for the publication of a book listing all South Australian recipients of Order of Australia Honours was formed by the South Australian Branch Committee. The sub-committee was chaired by Mrs Dymphna Eszenyi, AM, and set about to gather information which has resulted in this publication. Although not all of the early objectives have been realised, a worthy document has been produced and the work of the sub-committee is highly appreciated. The sub-committee comprised:

Thanks are extended to Mr Doug Omond OAM who provided the computer resource for the database of the material and for printing the book in a published form. The compilation of data, typesetting, editing and establishment of the website was performed by Mr Kevin Hodgson OAM.

New recipients were included after each announcement of awards and the book became large and expensive to print. In 2004, the Branch Committee decided to record the information on compact disc for sale at Branch functions. Mr Kevin Hodgson OAM has generously continued to maintain the electronic records.

The material for these records is gathered from public documents such as The Commonwealth of Australia Gazette and the Biographical Notes issued to the press at the time of the announcement of Awards. All award recipients residing in the State of South Australia at the time of the announcement of awards are included. In some cases, particularly in the early years or as the recipient requests, citations only are given.

This record is a project of The Order of Australia Association, South Australian Branch Committee.

The South Australian Branch of the Order of Australia Association was formed in 1980.
