Section of skeletal muscle stained with Heidenhain's iron hematoxylin and counterstained with van Gieson stain. Muscle striations are clearly seen.

Result: The following tissue elements may be demonstrated in the order given, depending upon the degree of differentiation employed: mitochondria, cross striations of muscle, cytoplasm, nuclear membrane, yolk, chromosomes, chromatin, nucleoli, centrioles.
