Because this was a wet area, it had a final coat of polyurethane to repel water. The line down the middle is a recess for a glass shower screen that had not been installed at this stage. The shower is on the left, and a toilet was to be installed on the right. The cistern inlet is visible in the lower right section of the painting.

The scene is loosely based on Bath in England.
