COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS (MYOB)
An introductory business accounting course for people using, or intending to use MYOB
for record keeping and reports.
Includes working with - Sales, Purchases, Accounts, Inventory.
*Prerequisite* - Some Bookkeeping experience or exposure to MYOB is desirable.

OFFICE TRAINING COURSE
Based around text and graphics, learn to produce business documents with letterheads, headers and footers,
table of contents, index and cross referencing, and prepare them for distribution using Mail Merge.
Creation of posters, newsletters, flyers and addressing envelopes will also be covered.
This course using MS Word, versions 2003 or 2007, on XP or Vista machines.

UNDERSTANDING THE COMPUTER
An introduction to the workings of a computer, to open and close correctly,
to the Windows Operating System (versions 98 to XP)
to the filing system, use of the mouse and an entry to a range of programs.

THE INTERNET
This course will provide an understanding of The Internet,how to connect to safely and efficiently.
Develop skills in receiving/sending email messages and in sourcing the array
of information available on the World Wide Web.

WORD PROCESSING 1
This course uses the MS Word program (versions 97-2003)
and has a step by step approach to word processing -
writing and editing a letter, letterheads, newsletters and filing.

WORD PROCESSING 2
This course uses the MS Word program (versions 97-2003)
with a creative approach to word processing involving the use of
text and graphics to create letterheads, posters, newsletters or flyers,
plus Mail Merge to personalize a general letter or document.

POWERPOINT
A program that allows you to create a Slide Show, with speaker notes,
animations, slide transitions and handouts for better effect.
When creating a PowerPoint presentation you can add colour,
images, sounds, and movies to enhance the presentation.

EXCEL
Using the MS program EXCEL, this spreadsheet program can be used
to tabulate many kinds of information.
The term "spreadsheet" presents information in a rectangular table from where
calculation and ananlysis can be made.

GRAPHICS for BUSINESS / FUN
Using MS Word, develop skills with art, graphics and photos
to produce cards, flyers, newsletters and posters
that can be valuable for business, and fun for home use.
