NEXT LUNCH:

RIVER CAFE.
The next lunch will be
on Wednesday 12 September 2012 from noon at the River Cafe Torrens Weir, Adelaide. The cafe is co-located with the Red Ochre Restaurant and is accessed from the north side of the Torrens along War Memorial Drive. The cafe features delicious modern Italian cuisine with delightful views of the city's Conference and Festival Centres across the lake.  It is close to the CBD and North Terrace transport as well as having adequate free on-site parking. The cafe is less than 1 Km from the Adelaide Railway Station equal to the distance from North Terrace straight down King William St to Queen Victoria's Statue in Victoria Square.

This popular venue requires accurate numbers for seating at least one week prior to the lunch. Therefore, this time you must notify us no later than Wednesday 5 September by registering so that we know how many are coming.  Please click HERE after the end of June to register. You are also urged to check this site again closer to the event just in case some last minute change has been made. A deposit has been arranged for you.

PORT RIVER DOLPHIN EXPLORER
The
Dolphin Explorer lunch/cruise at Port Adelaide was on Wednesday March 23, 2011. We boarded the Dolphin Explorer at Port Adelaide at the Dolphin Explorer's wharf at the end of Port Rd (Commercial Rd) next to the Port's historic light house for the very popular 2 1/2 hour lunch trip up and down the Port River past the submarine depot, ship wrecks, mangrove forests, and just managed to see a few of the Port River dolphins.

Some of us took the advice and brought family and friends for this trip. This lunch involved more organising than usual, but we think all those who participated were very pleased with the result as you can see from these photos

and see this VIDEO of the busy Port River taken during the trip.

PORT DOCK BREWERY HOTEL
The lunch on Tuesday 14 September 2010 was at the
Port Dock Brewery Hotel, 10 Todd St Port Adelaide. We ordered lunch when we arrived, then toured the brewery and returned to the dining area for lunch. The special feature included with this lunch was the brewery tour of the on-site brewery that produces a range of delicious boutique beers. (The Port Dock Brewery Hotel featured on the ABC's "Collectors" program on 17 September 2010 in a segment on beer coasters.)

Here are a few photos to remember our visit to the Port Dock Brewery Hotel:

The lunch on Wednesday 10 March 2010. B Martin formerly of Planning and well known to most of us was in town during March and he saw many of us at the Blackwood RSL Restaurant during his visit. BM was obviously pleased to see so many of you after such a long time. There were about 27 at the lunch with quite a few for the first time. (Incidentally, who ordered the "road kill"?)

Here are some photos from the lunch at the Blackwood RSL taken by RM (click to enlarge).

The lunch on Wednesday 23 September 2009: About 8 of us caught the train from the Adelaide Railway Station to the Coromandel Station on the recently upgraded, very smooth and delightfully scenic Belair line. At Blackwood we took a short walk north up Brighton Pde to the Blackwood RSL Hall where we met another 7 or so who had walked or driven to the venue. After a pleasant chat over a lovely lunch and one or two drinks the train travellers returned to Adelaide for home. Here are a few (low quality phone camera) photos to remind you.

The lunch on Thursday 26 March 2009 was at the Balcony Restaurant at the Strathmore Hotel North Terrace Adelaide. We estimate that we reached about 20 in all that included a lot of first timers, so the table booked for 10 meant we had to change tables rather than sit on each other's laps! One of us tried the restaurant's feature Stonegrill Dining where the diner grills his own steak on a 400 degree C stone slab while seated at his table - simply delicious. Lunch Club business cards were also distributed.

For those interested, here are the photos from our lunch at the Birdies Restaurant at The Tap Inn Hotel (click here) at Rundle St, Kent Town.

Because telephone, postage, and email contact has become too hard for anyone to manage, we will eventually rely entirely on this web page for communicating future lunches. We will try to keep in touch with you all by email until it is eventually phased out. Consequently, we urge you to make sure you come back to this web site at the change of season around late February or early March and again at late August or early September each year for new lunch arrangements.
